With its new roof and lighting system, Glasgow’s Olympic Stadium is the latest addition to the city’s skyline.
The venue has also become the site of a major debate about the best ways to redevelop the area.
The answer, according to architect John Williams, is not to tear it down and build something new on top.
“You have to look at the original architecture of the site,” he said.
“It’s a good thing to have in the site because the original buildings will be gone.”
In addition to hosting the games, the stadium will also house a new airport, an underground parking garage and the new pedestrian walkway between the two venues.
“The stadium is one of the best things that’s happened to Glasgow in a very long time,” said Richard Thompson, who manages the development of the stadium and its surrounding neighbourhood.
“I think that we are in a position to be in a great position to do something special for the city.”
What you need to know about Glasgow’s Olympics: How the city became the world’s biggest venue for sporting events Read more Williams said he had been thinking about the Olympic stadium for years and thought the city had been “too slow to embrace it”.
“I thought the biggest problem in Glasgow was that there was no planning,” he added.
Williams was one of three architects chosen by the city to design the stadium’s new facade, and the project has been the subject of fierce criticism, with opponents claiming the plans would not be sustainable. “
In a sense, it’s like the first wave of the Titanic.”
Williams was one of three architects chosen by the city to design the stadium’s new facade, and the project has been the subject of fierce criticism, with opponents claiming the plans would not be sustainable.
“It’s not the most beautiful stadium I’ve ever seen,” said one critic.
“Its not even close.
I can tell you that if you put a giant swimming pool in front of the venue, it would look as bad as this.”
Williams’ design team, which included architects Karel Lefebvre and James McBride, are confident that the new facade will hold up, despite critics.
The architect added: “We have a fantastic team working on this and we are absolutely committed to it.
We’ve been here before, we know what to expect and we’ve got a plan in place.”
Glasgow’s city council approved the new design in December, but the work has yet to be built.
Williams said the new stadium is not the “final” version of the Olympic project, and that the city will continue to refine its plans for the stadium, and with the surrounding development.
Williams’ design of the new Olympic stadium will be unveiled at the end of September.
What to expect at the stadium When it opens, the new venue will host the 2016 Olympic Games, as well as the Rugby World Cup and the Commonwealth Games.
The new stadium, which will host 20,000 people and be built on the former site of the Glasgow Hydro power station, is the biggest sporting facility in Scotland.
It will house 20,400 seats, with the remaining seats spread over three levels.
The stadium’s façade is a blend of timber, stone and glass panels, with a massive glass roof that is expected to generate more than 2.7 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year.
Construction is expected start in 2019.
